Though for decades he’s been an imposing persona in the music world—many photographs of him portray Nick Cave as a dark, angry wildman—his writing has lent itself well to cinema. More often than not, Cave’s songs explore specific characters, with the lyrics becoming short stories filled with dreadful and gruesome imagery—as well as some that’s tender and moving.
